The idea for the Olympia Awesome Film Festival came about in the Summer of 2010. The good people at Mutually Assured Productions were sitting around at the Westside Bar & Grill one night, complaining about something (probably film festivals) when John said “We should have our own film festibal”. (Films by Mutually Assured Productions are not eligible to win at OAFF)
After ridiculing John for ten minutes about mispronouncing “festival”, we started talking about possibly considering thinking about becoming interested in putting on a one day event where anybody can submit their work. There were only a few key things:
It would be located in Olympia
It would be a film festival
It would be awesome.
We are aware that Olympia already has a film festival, but in true American style we felt like one is never enough. We needed more.
The Olympia Awesome Film Festival will be held on Saturday May 14th at the Olympia Ballroom downtown Olympia. The Event begins at 5pm and will end at about 11pm. Entrance to the event will be by $3 suggested donation. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the event to win prizes that have been donated by local Olympia businesses. There will be drinks and snacks for sale at the event.
